For my Web Biography, I chose to interview Dianne Magliocca, who is the Campus Minister for Slippery Rock's "Rock Catholic" campus ministry group.
To give a brief overview, Rock Catholic is a student run organization, with meetings being held on Wednesdays from 8:00-9:00 pm. It serves as one of several ministry groups on campus.
Dianne has been a part of the community for the past 27 years, and was initially involved with youth ministry for the Diocese of Pittsburgh before later switching to campus ministry as a step up.
Having a long time connection to Slippery Rock, both grown up near the town and later attending SRU as a student, she took the job as minister for the Catholic Newman Center, Slippery Rock's on campus church, mainly due to her past experiences with the organization, and has been happy to remain with it for as long as she has.
She has stated that her favorite part about the job has been getting to know the students every year and getting to be a part of their lives as members of the Rock Catholic program, as well as partaking in activities such as mission retreats, conferences, bible studies, and masses, amongst other events.
In my opinion, I would say that the proximity of this interview is mostly for people who have an interest in youth ministry, such as myself, as I have always wondered what it is like for someone to be working in that field. Along with that, I also feel that it can also help promote the Rock Catholic organization as well, for people who have not heard of it and may be interested in joining themselves.
